The MALCS Summer Institute, held annually since 1986, is an opportunity for scholars and community members to gather to network, share research and information, offer support and re-energize. In addition to panels, roundtables and plenaries, the MALCS Summer Institute hosts a publishing workshop and presents the Tortuga Award to a member who has used her expertise, experience and commitment to support and advance the MALCS mission and to a community activist.

Chicana/Latina Studies: The Journal of MALCS is the only interdisciplinary, peer reviewed academic journal publishing in English and Spanish dedicated to exploring Chicana/Latina experiences through research articles, literary criticism, creative writing, review essays, occasional commentaries, and book reviews.
