DR. ADELI YNOSTROZA OCHOA (she/her/ella) is an Assistant Professor in Liberal Studies/Dual Language Immersion in the College of Social Sciences and Education at California State University, Bakersfield. She is also a Professional Learning Specialist for California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE). Es una madre, a poet, collector of thoughts, and hija de campesinos. Her academic journey includes fourteen years as a bilingual elementary teacher in Texas school districts and eight years as an instructor in Teacher Preparation Programs. Her passion for bilingual education led her to acquire a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Bilingual/Bicultural Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She embraces a transnational & translingual identity, de allá, de aquí y todos los lugares intermedios. Her research interests include Bilingual Teacher Identity Development, TransCultural Practices in Dual Language Classrooms, Content Critical Analysis of Children’s Books, and Chicana Feminist Methodologies. She has published in the Bilingual Research Journal, International Journal of Multicultural Education and contributed a chapter in the Educational Leadership of Immigrants: Case Studies in Times of Change. She is currently working on a study centering the history of Latine, Spanish speaking students in Dual Language programs to challenge gentrification.
