The Department of Women’s Studies at San Diego State University invites applications for a tenure-track position, assistant professor rank. We seek to strengthen our offerings in the following area:Feminist Media and Cultural Studies including popular culture and media such as television, film, music, performance art, news journalism and the Internet, and to support existing strengths in women in literature, technology and theories of representation.

A Ph.D. with a minimum of a graduate minor or concentration in Women’s Studies is strongly preferred and:
· A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching of a very diverse student population
· Ability to address interests of undergraduate and graduate students in popular culture and media to include such areas as television, film, technology, music, performing arts, news, journalism, the Internet, etc.
· Ability to teach courses relevant to media and cultural studies and specifically bolster curriculum in this area.
· Ability to develop curriculum to enhance internationalization and serve concerns of gender, race, class and sexuality.
· A commitment to strengthen a successful graduate degree program
· A strong record of scholarly research appropriate to level of appointment
· Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues and community
· An interest in building international connections.
