We are seeking candidates with a commitment to women studies and excellence in teaching and scholarship, specializing in multiracial, Black, Chicana, Native American, and\/or Asian American feminisms. <!--more-->Successful candidates will have a strong background in interdisciplinary feminist approaches and expertise in intersectional approaches to gender, race, class, sexuality and nationality, ability to teach both introductory women studies and courses within their areas of specialization, and be able to develop new curriculum in areas of multiracial feminisms. Successful candidates will also show a demonstrated commitment to advising and mentoring students of color in and out of the classroom and work collaboratively to create a positive impact on campus for people of color. In order to be hired with tenure, applicants must meet OSU&#8217;s requirements for teaching excellence, scholarly productivity, and service. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.<br \/>\nEffective: September 16, 2007.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Women Studies Program:<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0 The Women Studies Program at Oregon State University began in 1972 and has grown to include four fulltime lines and more than 50 Program faculty from across the University. We currently offer a minor and certificate at the undergraduate level, as well as a graduate minor. In the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, we offer primary and secondary areas in gender, race, &#038; class, contemporary women&#8217;s issues, and global women&#8217;s issues. We enroll about 400 students per term in our courses, many of which meet University baccalaureate core requirements. We are in the process of proposing a major and hope, with the addition of this position, to propose an MA in women studies as well. website: www.oregonstate.edu\/cla\/women_studies.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications<\/span>:<br \/>\nRequired: Ph.D. or equivalent with expertise in Women Studies and specialization in multiracial, Black, Chicana, Native American and\/or Asian American feminisms. Outstanding record of scholarship in Women Studies or related field. Experience teaching Women Studies or gender-focused undergraduate and graduate courses with expertise in intersections of gender, race, sexuality, class, and nationality. Ability to supervise graduate student research and to work with other faculty and students on interdisciplinary\/collaborative projects. Cultural competencies in communities of color and extended experience working with students of color in and out of the classroom.
