{"id":832,"date":"2011-10-08T20:57:26","date_gmt":"2011-10-08T20:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.malcs.org\/archive-2017\/?p=832"},"modified":"2011-10-08T20:57:26","modified_gmt":"2011-10-08T20:57:26","slug":"job-native-americanindigenous-studies-uc-san-diego","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malcs.org\/archive-2017\/2011\/10\/08\/job-native-americanindigenous-studies-uc-san-diego\/","title":{"rendered":"JOB: Native American\/Indigenous Studies, UC San Diego"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ethnic Studies Department at the University of California, San<br \/>\nDiego invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of<br \/>\nNative American\/Indigenous Studies beginning Fall 2012, pending budget<br \/>\napproval.\u00c2\u00a0 We welcome applicants whose work encompasses Native<br \/>\nAmerican and Indigenous-centered knowledge production and<br \/>\nepistemologies.\u00c2\u00a0 We will prioritize applicants whose research engages<br \/>\nwith gender, sexuality, and\/or feminism.<\/p>\n<p>We are especially interested in interdisciplinary and intersectional<br \/>\nresearch, including transnational and diasporic contexts, though<br \/>\napplicants in all social science or humanities disciplines are<br \/>\nencouraged to apply.\u00c2\u00a0 While the hiring institution is in California,<br \/>\nwe recognize the transcolonial links that also extend outside of the<br \/>\nAmericas to the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand, and the<br \/>\ncommon Indigenous political, social, and cultural issues that have<br \/>\ngiven rise to international Indigenous rights and decolonization<br \/>\nmovements.\u00c2\u00a0 Candidates with a history of leadership in teaching,<br \/>\nmentoring, research or service towards building an equitable and<br \/>\ndiverse scholarly environment, including active research partnerships<br \/>\nwith Native American\/Indigenous communities, are also urged to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Situated in a region where the US-Mexico border zone, indigenous<br \/>\nnational and tribal governments, and the Asia-Pacific interact to<br \/>\nproduce a dynamic geopolitical location, UCSD\u00c2\u00b9s Ethnic Studies<br \/>\nDepartment is a vibrant community of scholars committed to the<br \/>\ninterdisciplinary study of race, ethnicity, indigeneity, gender,<br \/>\nsexuality, class, and dis\/ability. The department\u00c2\u00b9s innovative<br \/>\napproach represents a commitment to transnational, relational, and<br \/>\nintersectional methods for producing critical knowledge about power<br \/>\nand inequality, including systems of knowledge that have emerged from<br \/>\nracialized and indigenous communities in global contexts. Ethnic<br \/>\nStudies is devoted to creative, conceptual, and empirical research;<br \/>\ncritical pedagogy; collaborations with a broad group of affiliated<br \/>\nfaculty; and social justice projects developed with and for the<br \/>\nuniversity, our home communities, and the broader public.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are accepted electronically on the UCSD Academic<br \/>\nPersonnel Website.
