POSITION DESCRIPTION:\u00c2\u00a0 The Department of Teacher Education at The University of Texas\u00c2\u00a0at El Paso (UTEP) announces a faculty search for an open rank, tenure-track or tenured\u00c2\u00a0appointment in Curriculum and Instruction, to begin fall 2012. The successful\u00c2\u00a0candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses with emphasis in curriculum\u00c2\u00a0studies and\/or social, historical, philosophical, and economic foundations of\u00c2\u00a0education, will direct graduate research, conduct an active research\/ publication\u00c2\u00a0agenda, and seek external funding for research. \u00c2\u00a0The ideal candidate will demonstrate\u00c2\u00a0multifaceted understandings of pedagogy, theory, and research. THE DEPARTMENT:\u00c2\u00a0Teacher Education has a new Ph.D. program in Teaching, Learning and\u00c2\u00a0Culture and offers opportunities for research and collaboration with local dual\u00c2\u00a0language programs, Mexican and other Latin American institutions. The College of\u00c2\u00a0Education is seeking applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, research,\u00c2\u00a0service, and partnerships with K-12 schools, community colleges, faculty in the Arts\u00c2\u00a0and Sciences. Much of the College\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s innovative work is supported by large grants from\u00c2\u00a0the U.S. Department of Education, and National Science Foundation.<\/p>\n

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\u00c2\u00a0Candidates should hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent)\u00c2\u00a0in Curriculum and Instruction, a demonstrated commitment or potential for graduate\u00c2\u00a0teaching excellence, proficiency in instructional technology, and a demonstrated\u00c2\u00a0record of or potential for securing external funding and have a record, or the\u00c2\u00a0potential for achieving a record, of research and publication in these areas,\u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic,\u00c2\u00a0cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Candidates currently ranked as Associate or\u00c2\u00a0Full Professors preferred, but Assistant Professors with outstanding qualifications\u00c2\u00a0will be considered. Applicants for this position are expected to have experience\u00c2\u00a0teaching and\/or working with K-12 linguistically-diverse populations.<\/p>\n
