Assistant Professor in Women & Gender Studies and Religion (tenure\u00e2\u20ac\u0090stream appointment)<\/p>\n

The Department of Historical Studies, University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Women & Gender Studies and Religion. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor andwill begin July 1, 2010.<\/p>\n

Qualified candidates should have completed the PhD in a related discipline with a focus in the area of women and gender studies and religion, and with a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level and an emerging record of scholarly accomplishments. Breadth of training and ability to teach a wide range of courses will be a major asset. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.<\/p>\n

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a diverse program of courses in feminism and sexuality as well as the historical study of religion. The particular religion (or religions) of specialization will be determined by the successful applicant\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s profile, but should complement the department\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s other resources in the historical study of religion.\u00c2\u00a0 The successful candidate will also be appointed to the tri-campus graduate Centre for the Study of Religion, with the same graduate responsibilities as colleagues at the other campuses of the University of Toronto.<\/p>\n

Historical Studies is a transdisciplinary department that provides students with a globally\u00e2\u20ac\u0090framed historical education that encompasses programs in Classical Civilization, Diaspora and Transnational Studies, History, History of Religions and the Study of Women and Gender.<\/p>\n

All applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a teaching portfolio, and a cover letter of no more than two single\u00e2\u20ac\u0090spaced pages outlining their research interests and teaching qualifications. Applicants should also arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to Professor Johnson under separate cover.<\/p>\n
