Tenure Track, Assistant Professor  Starting July 1, 2007<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe Chicana\/o Studies Program at the University of California, Davis,  seeks a practicing artist and scholar to Direct Taller Arte Del Nuevo  Amanecer (TANA) which is a new Chicano Studies center for art and  culture to be located in the neighboring city of Woodland. TANA is a  silkscreen workshop and exhibition center where a successful  candidate will serve as a master printer, grant writer, and curator.  This position is a specialized scholar\/practitioner and is an outgrowth  of the community-based studio and lecture courses taught within the  Chicana\/o Studies Program. This candidate will be expected to  sustain a creative portfolio while directing TANA and will have a  proportionate teaching responsibility in our undergraduate program.  The Chicana\/o Studies Program will expect this candidate to sustain  TANA with an internal and external grant portfolio. Candidates must  combine creative art expression with an expertise in Chicano Art  History. In particular candidates should have an expertise in  silkscreen printing\/poster making and mural painting and a  demonstrated excellence in teaching these processes in a studio  environment. This position will be a full-time, tenure-track  appointment at the Assistant Professor level.<\/p>\n<p>Minimum Qualifications:  M.F.A. in printmaking &#038; painting with an  emphasis in poster-making and mural painting. Candidates should  have a record of group and solo exhibitions and have the potential for  a distinguished record of research, including a portfolio of external  grant submissions. Preference will be given to candidates with a  record of grant submissions over a million dollars and with  consortium partnerships. Candidates should have a demonstrated  excellence in teaching studio-based art courses within the Chicano  art experience and a demonstrated record of  community-development in support of the visual arts.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:  Position will be an entry level Assistant-Professor  who will serve as the Director for Taller Arte del Nuevo Amanecer  (TANA). Candidate will be responsible for community and grant  development necessary to sustain an external Chicano Studies  operated center for art and culture to be located in Woodland,  California. Candidate will be responsible for organizing and  maintaining community support committee for TANA. Candidate will  be responsible for developing pedagogy within the Chicano Studies  Program and at TANA and will have a proportionate teaching  responsibility in our undergraduate program. Davis students an opportunity to understand  and work with the experiences, values, cultural representations, and  socio-economic issues of the Chicano\/Latino community. The  program includes a dedicated faculty of accomplished research  scholars, excellent support staff, a curriculum strong in the use of  theory and analysis of the intersection of race, class, gender, and  sexuality, a dedication to fostering excellent student research, and  support for community service activities.
