The Webjefa is appointed by the Executive Committee, is a member of the Coordinating Committee, and serves for 3 years with possibility of reappointment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Primary responsibilities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>*<strong>Maintain, update, and manage the MALCS website. Specifically, the Webjefa will: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform regular maintenance including updating specific webpages as needed, deleting outdated content, and adding new content as directed by the Executive Committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Look for and fixes errors, repairs broken links, making certain that all pages are correctly formatted, and other basic upkeep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Create new webpages as directed by the Executive Committee that may include forms, menus, tables, frames, graphics, and other elements as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain the website structure and organization including backing up the website, deleting unused files and organizing directories.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Make recommendations for design changes to the website as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>*<strong>Serve on the organization\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Communications Team with the MALCS Chair-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u20ac\u0090elect and <\/strong><strong>the Administrative Coordinator. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Communications Team is tasked to develop and recommend to the Executive Committee a strategic and implementation plan to ensure a stable and vibrant community employing communication technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>*<strong>Coordinate <em>Chicana\/Latina Studies<\/em> journal webpage updates with the Lead Editor(s) <\/strong><strong>or her\/their designee. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Skills, Knowledge and Experience Desired<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Webpage design experience and knowledge of good web design (including accessibility)<\/li>\n<li>Website maintenance experience<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with WordPress platform or other comparable platforms<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate technical information to a non-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u20ac\u0090technical audience<\/li>\n<li>Ability to take direction and work following feminist principles<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and organize workflow efficiently<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Other Requirements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your own computer with necessary software and hardware<\/li>\n<li>Attendance at monthly virtual meetings with Coordinating Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Work Location<\/strong><\/span>: Anywhere<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Time Commitment<\/strong><\/span>: 3-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u20ac\u00904 hours\/week on average, with 8-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u20ac\u009010 hours during membership drives and lead up to annual Summer Institute<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Application packet<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Letter of interest which includes information on past webjefa experience<\/li>\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<li>Webpage portfolio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Please send application materials to Dr. Nohemy Sol\u00c3\u00b3rzano-\u00c2\u00ad\u00e2\u20ac\u0090Thompson, Communication Committee Chair (nohemy@malcs.org\/archive-2017) with the subject line WEBJEFA APPLICATION \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153your last name\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Application review begins <strong>June 16<\/strong><strong>th<\/strong>; open until filled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MALCS Webjefa job position MALCS seeks a volunteer webjefa to manage our website (www.malcs.org\/archive-2017).
