Today, October 25, Dr. Tiffany Ana L\u00c3\u00b3pez<\/a>\"\"<\/a> was appointed to the Tom\u00c3\u00a1s Rivera Endowed Chair in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at the Riverside campus of the University of California.<\/p>\n

This is a great distinction not only within the UC system but throughout the United States as Dr. L\u00c3\u00b3pez is the third Chicana to hold such an endowed post. Dr. Maria Herrera-Sobek was our first in 1997.<\/p>\n

Dr. L\u00c3\u00b3pez is appointed for a five-year term. The Endowed Chair provides leadership on campus, in the region, and in the nation in Chicana\/o and Latina\/o creative writing and may embrace research issues central to Tom\u00c3\u00a1s Rivera’s life. The Endowed Chair coordinates the Annual Tom\u00c3\u00a1s Rivera Conference. Finally, the Endowed Chair serves as ambassador to the Tom\u00c3\u00a1s Rivera Archive.<\/p>\n
