Adriana&#8217;s diss was titled &#8220;<em>Negotiating Race Relations Through Activism: Women Activists and Women&#8217;s Organizations in San Antonio, Texas During the 1920s<\/em>.&#8221;  She is currently the chair of liberal studies at the National Hispanic University in San Jose, California.  Congrats, Dra. Ayala!<\/p>\n<p>Congrats tambi\u00c3\u00a9n to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csulb.edu\/colleges\/cla\/departments\/las\/people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Anna Sandoval<\/a><\/strong> at <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" alt=\"Las Hijas de Juan\" id=\"image15\" title=\"Las Hijas de Juan\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.malcs.org\/archive-2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2006\/08\/hijasdejuan.jpg?ssl=1\" \/>California State University, Long Beach, and ex-oficio chair <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utsa.edu\/wsi\/faculty_mendeznegrete.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Josie Mendez-Negrete<\/a><\/strong> at UT San Antonio.  Both MALCSistas recently gained tenure, and can take a big sigh of relief&#8230;.for about five seconds, probably. Anna is associate professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csulb.edu\/depts\/chls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Chicano and Latino Studies<\/a> at CSULB, and Josie is Associate Professor of Bilingual &#8211; Bicultural Studies at UTSA. Josie is also pleased to announce the re-release of her novel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dukeupress.edu\/cgibin\/forwardsql\/search.cgi?template0=nomatch.htm&#038;template2=books\/book_detail_page.htm&#038;user_id=1956&#038;Bmain.item_option=1&#038;Bmain.item=13653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><em>Las Hijas de Juan<\/em><\/a> by Duke University Press as part of the Latina America Otherwise series (edited by Sonia Saldivar-Hull, Walter Mignolo, and Irene Silverblatt).  The new edition is beautifully produced, in a manner suited to this painfully beautiful memoir, which Norma L.
