The 2016 MALCS Summer Institute<\/a> will be hosted by the University of Wyoming, August 3-6.<\/h2>\n

With lectures, workshops, seminars, and various social activities, the Institute is designed to challenge us intellectually by sharing work and ideas; it creates an informal space for socializing and networking, and offers a safe space to present early work for discussion and development. The institute is a unique\u00c2\u00a0and creative space from which we emerge energized and ready to engage the world again.<\/p>\n

MALCS is open to all Chicana, Latina, Afro-Latina, Asian-Latina and Indigenous women and gender non-conforming people working toward the support, education and dissemination of Chicana\/Latina & Native American women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s issues. This includes faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduates, and community members. Please note that you must be a member<\/em> in order to attend the summer institute; you can register for both at the same time, if necessary, though the fees are collected separately.

Writing Workshop<\/h3>\n

Chicana\/Latina Studies: The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social<\/em> annually sponsors a writing workshop at the Summer Institute. The MALCS Summer Institute Writing Workshop is one of our formal methods of creating a feminist editorial praxis in the publication of work by and about Chicanas\/Latinas. The workshop follows the spirit and mission of MALCS, and it is designed to create a publishing community with the aim of energizing knowledge production through collaboration and institutionalized mentorship.
