The workshop follows the spirit and mission of MALCS, and it is designed to create a publishing community with the aim of energizing knowledge production through collaboration and institutionalized mentorship.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"highlight\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2><em>Chicana\/Latina Studies<\/em>:<em>\u00c2\u00a0The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social \u00c2\u00a0<\/em>invites your participation at its MALCS Summer Institute Writing Workshop at the University of New Mexico, July 29 to August 1, 2015.<\/h2>\n<h2>Two sessions focusing on academic articles will take place on Wednesday, July 29, and Friday, July 31, 2015.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p>We encourage applications from writers at all professional levels, including tenured or mid-career professors. Due to the goals of the workshop, we discourage submissions of dissertation chapters. The workshop will be facilitated by the Immediate-Past Lead Editor\u00e2\u20ac\u201da senior scholar with a robust publication record and extensive experience at various phases of editorial work.<\/p>\n<p>Those interested in participating must submit electronic copies of a letter of application and a final draft of a manuscript by <strong>June 19, 2015<\/strong> at 5:00 pm. This two-day workshop has space for no more than ten participants who are current paid members of MALCS and who must register for the Summer Institute.<\/p>\n<p>When accepted, applicants must provide evidence of membership and registration payment to MALCS. Participants must make a commitment to attend both sessions, and agree to peer review and comment on the submitted manuscripts. After having participated in the workshop, each participant will clearly understand the internal publication criteria of<em> Chicana\/Latina Studies<\/em>, gain specific direction regarding revision, and obtain first-hand knowledge of the journal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s editorial production process.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Evidence of membership and registration will expedite the review process for acceptance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline for submission must be postmarked by June 19, 2015.
