Dear Members, Colleagues, and Supporters of MALCS,<\/p>\n

We are deeply honored to serve as Co-Lead Editors of Chicana\/Latina Studies: The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social<\/em>. Please join us in thanking Dr. Josie M\u00c3\u00a9ndez-Negrete for serving as editor for the journal from 2009-2014. The journal made great strides under her leadership and vision and we are grateful and indebted to her, journal staff, and students of the University of Texas, San Antonio for their dedication and work. We would also like to thank members of the MALCS Executive Committee for their support in this time of transition.<\/p>\n

As new Co-Lead Editors, we are pleased Arizona State University agreed to host Chicana\/Latina Studies <\/em>in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. The interdisciplinary emphasis of the journal is in keeping with New College\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s mission and embodies the value for inclusion of Arizona State University\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153New American University.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Our office is in place and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new staff members: Elsa Bea Velazquez, who is a graduate student in the Human Rights and Social Justice Program, will serve as Review Coordinator and Elyssa Bustamante, graduate student in the Master\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s of Interdisciplinary Studies Program will intern as Coordinator of Research.<\/p>\n

First published in 1997, Chicana\/Latina Studies<\/em>: The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social<\/em> publishes high-quality, original research, creative writing, commentary, and reviews relevant to or informed by Chicana\/Latina\/Native experience. The journal adheres to a double blind, peer-review process for its scholarly articles. The journal also provides a space where Chicana, Latina, and Indigenous women can voice their experiences, knowledge, and subjectivities in creative ways, both in their research and artistic outlets. Chicana\/Latina Studies <\/em>invites writers and readers alike to voice critical Chicana, Latina and Indigenous perspectives that build and transform academic scholarship. We will continue to seek, select and publish feminist scholarship that honors this tradition, and expand on it.<\/p>\n

We proudly announce the names of the following members who have agreed to serve on our Colectiva<\/em>, which serves as the internal advisory board at Arizona State University: Julie Amparano, Marivel Danielson, Yolanda de la Cruz, Nancy Godoy, Ilana Luna, Jackie Martinez, Mary Romero, Seline Szkupinski Quiroga, Laura Tohe, and Claudia Villegas-Silva.<\/p>\n
