To serve our communities, our goals are:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 266px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.malcs.org\/archive-2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/12\/MonicaTheresa.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" title=\"MonicaTheresa\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.malcs.org\/archive-2017\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/12\/MonicaTheresa.jpg?resize=256%2C254&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"256\" height=\"254\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Current Chair Theresa Delgadillo (right) with Chair emeritus Monica Torres, wrapped in the MALCS Rebozo of Leadership<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>To produce and distribute research in Chicana, (Afro\/Asian)-Latina, Indigenous women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and queer studies;<\/li>\n<li>To pursue knowledge production based on social-justice;<\/li>\n<li>To recruit, retain and promote Chicana, (Afro\/Asian)-Latina, Indigenous women and gender non-conforming people in higher education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this 2012-2013 academic year, MALCS continues to work on creating structures and policies that sustain us over the long-term and prepare us to meet the needs of growing numbers of scholars, artists, and community participants involved in our fields of study. We look forward to working with our members and supporters on enhancing our digital presence and communication, building our membership, and fundraising for our future.<\/p>\n<p>Our excellent Ad-Hoc Committee on Institutional Violence, will collaborate with other organizations to develop best practices and policies addressing this topic. Our \u00c2\u00a0<a title=\"Caucus directory on the Leadership page\" href=\"https:\/\/www.malcs.org\/archive-2017\/leadership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Graduate Student, Undergraduate Student, LBTQ and Women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Indigenous Native Caucuses<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0are developing plans for strengthening MALCS attention to issues in these communities and will work with our Executive Committee to enhance mentorship opportunities within our organization and contribute to research and scholarship in these areas.<\/p>\n<p>We expect this to be another successful year and look forward to sharing our research and knowledge through our journal, <em><a title=\"link to MALCS journal\" href=\"https:\/\/journal.malcs.org\/archive-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Chicana\/Latina Studies<\/a><\/em>, on this site, on <a title=\"Check out our newest addition!\" href=\"https:\/\/mujerestalk.malcs.org\/archive-2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Mujeres Talk<\/a> and the\u00c2\u00a0<a title=\"The latest news from MALCS\" href=\"https:\/\/malcs.org\/blog\/archive-2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">MALCS Blog<\/a>, and at the <a title=\"The 2013 Summer Institute site at Ohio State\" href=\"https:\/\/institute.malcs.org\/archive-2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">2013 Summer Institute<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0at Ohio State University in Columbus.<\/p>\n<p>I want to underscore how talented and diverse MALCS&#8217; membership is \u00e2\u20ac\u201c once you join us, you become part of a national, professional, and community organization whose members are active in their respective fields. If you are not already a member of MALCS, please join us! We welcome your contributions to meeting our goals, and offer the opportunity to network.
