JOB: Asst/Assoc Prof MexAm Studies border health, U Arizona

The Department of Mexican American & Raza Studies (MA&RS) at the University of Arizona invites applications for an entry level Assistant/Associate professor in the area of Mexican American/Latina/o border health. This tenure-track position is for the 2010-2011 academic year, beginning August 2010.

The desired qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. with a focus on medical anthropology or related field, with a Mexican American/Latino health emphasis.  MA&RS is seeking an individual, who has a strong interest in teaching, embraces an interdisciplinary perspective, and who has a high potential for securing extramural research funding in Mexican American/Latino, Border Health, and/or health disparities as they pertain to immigrant populations.  A letter from the dissertation chair(s) indicating the candidate?s progress and detailing a timeline to completion must be included for an ABD dossier to be considered.  This position is contingent upon the availability of funding.  MA&RS at the University of Arizona works collaboratively with key community agencies in promoting leadership and empowerment of Mexican Americans within the state of Arizona and the nation.

JOB: Asst Prof Chicana History, U North Texas

The Department of History at the University of North Texas announces a
tenure system assistant professorship in Chicana history, beginning
September 2010.

Required qualifications include Ph.D. in History, or in Chicana/o studies,
no later than September 1, 2010.  The successful candidate¹s research and
teaching interests must include the area of Chicana history, and may also
include expertise in any of the following areas of study: civil rights,
comparative race and ethnicity, cultural analysis, gender and sexuality,
labor, migration and immigration, and transnationalism.  Additional desired
qualifications include evidence of an active research agenda and relevant
teaching experience appropriate to rank.

The typical teaching load for productive faculty is 2/2, with opportunities
to teach upper-division and/or graduate courses. Interest in teaching
upper-division courses in Chicana (and Latina) history in the University
Honors program is preferred.

Preferred candidates will have an active agenda of research, publication, and undergraduate teaching. Ph.D. is required. Teaching load: three undergraduate courses per year (semester system), one of which is in the core curriculum. JOB: Asst Prof Quant Family Methods, ASU

The School of Social and Family Dynamics (SSFD), an interdisciplinary unit at Arizona State University (https://www.asu.edu/ssfd), invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a focus on quantitative family methods beginning Fall 2010. He/she will be expected to teach advanced quantitative methods courses and to take part in interdisciplinary research. For this position, successful candidates must have a PhD or equivalent by time of appointment in family sciences, sociology, psychology, or a related field, and have evidence of research in areas related to the study of family processes and/or family dynamics. Demonstrated potential for obtaining external funding in these areas also is required. The successful candidate also must have advanced training/coursework in quantitative methods, evidence of the ability to use these methods in published research, and the demonstrated potential to teach advanced quantitative methods courses at the graduate level. JOB: Women & Gender Studies & Religion, U Toronto

Assistant Professor in Women & Gender Studies and Religion (tenure‐stream appointment)

The Department of Historical Studies, University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Women & Gender Studies and Religion. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor andwill begin July 1, 2010.

Qualified candidates should have completed the PhD in a related discipline with a focus in the area of women and gender studies and religion, and with a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level and an emerging record of scholarly accomplishments. Breadth of training and ability to teach a wide range of courses will be a major asset. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a diverse program of courses in feminism and sexuality as well as the historical study of religion. The particular religion (or religions) of specialization will be determined by the successful applicant’s profile, but should complement the department’s other resources in the historical study of religion.  The successful candidate will also be appointed to the tri-campus graduate Centre for the Study of Religion, with the same graduate responsibilities as colleagues at the other campuses of the University of Toronto.
