Louise Ano Nuevo Kerr, 1938-2015
We remember Louise Ano Nuevo Kerr, pioneering Chicana historian who ensured Chicana academic presence in the Midwest since the mid 1970s, as well as wrote one of the first dissertations on Mexicans in the Midwest. She also brought MALCS to Chicago for the first time in 1994.Â
Louise died surrounded by family Monday, August 31, in Silver Spring, MD. She was a gentle soul as well as mentor, friend and colleague.Â
