JOB: Chicano Literature/Southwest Mex Am Studies, University of New Mexico

Professor of Chicano Literature/Southwest Mexican American Studies- Open Rank.
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese seeks applicants for a senior appointment at the University of New Mexico (UNM), to begin in Fall 2012.
Capabilities and responsibilities will include: Teaching in Chicano Literature in Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate levels, grad/undergrad student mentoring, and service.  Native or Near-Native command of Spanish.  Proven trajectory of publications, including in bilingual and international venues.  Additional areas of back ground and specialization may include Gender and/or Feminist Studies, Hispanic Literature, Critical Theory, Genre Studies (Poetry, Narrative, Theater), Cultural Studies, Critical Race Theory and Film Studies.

Minimum qualifications: PH.D., publications appropriate to rank, six years university faculty experience, demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidence of mentoring of graduate/ undergraduate students, Native or Near-Native fluency in Spanish.
Special consideration will be given to candidates with one or more of the following specializations: (1) Gender Studies, (2) Critical Theory, and (3) Genre Studies.
