JOB: Psychology Dept Head, University of Illinois at Chicago

Department Head for Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites applications and nominations for the position of Head. The Head is the chief administrative o-cer of the Department with responsibility for instructional programs and for administrative, budgetary, promotion, and recruitment matters. UIC’s Department of Psychology is in the midst of an exciting period of growth. We seek an innovative and energetic Head to guide the Department to prominence among the top Psychology programs and to provide leadership and vision for its continued excellence in research, teaching, and service. The department is rated in the top 50 in the country in research productivity. There are over 30 faculty members who lead high-pro le and externally well-funded research in Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Community and Prevention Research, and Social and Personality Psychology. The Psychology Department has played a central role in launching interdisciplinary units including the Learning Sciences Research Institute, the Institute for Health Research and Policy, the Laboratory for Integrative Neuroscience, and the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning. Psychology faculty currently direct these units, and many department members are active participants. The Department has approximately 1500undergraduate majors, and 100 Ph.D. students

(https://www.psch.uic.edu). UIC is a leading urban public research I university with 17,000 undergraduates, 8,000 graduate students, and 2,500 professional students. Its vibrant campus is located in the heart of Chicago.

Minimum Education and Work Experience:

The position requires an earned doctorate in Psychology or related disciplines and a distinguished scholarship record commensurate with the rank of tenured full professor. The successful candidate should have an outstanding record of achievement in research and teaching, a strong track record of external funding, and demonstrable administrative skills and experience. We seek a colleague who will work collaboratively with key units within LAS, the UIC community and the Chicago metro area to enhance the mission of the Department, College, and University.
