JOB: Sociology, SUNY

SUNY – Old Westbury: The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2012.  The Department is seeking sociologists with ability to teach social statistics, sociological theory, and one or more substantive areas of criminology; area of research is open.  The successful candidate must have a record of high quality teaching and a focused research agenda.  A Ph.D. in hand is required for appointment at the Assistant Professor level; ABD will be considered for initial appointment as an Instructor.  Salary is competitive.  SUNY College at Old Westbury is a small, diverse, public college committed to a mission of social justice.  The campus is situated on 600+ acres of woodland on Long Island twenty miles from Manhattan.  Review of applications will begin on October 14, 2011 and continue until the position is filled.  Please send letter of application, CV, three letters of recommendation, a statement of teaching philosophy, and at least one single-authored writing sample to: SUNY College at Old Westbury, Office of Human Resources, Search Committee: SOC-NET, P.
