JOB: Chicana/o Studies, UCSB, one year visiting

UC SANTA BARBARA – CHICANA AND CHICANO STUDIES
ONE-YEAR VISITING PROFESSORS or LECTURERS 2008-09 (3 OPENINGS)

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for three anticipated one-year Visiting Professor or Lecturer positions in academic year 2008-2009. The Department welcomes qualified applicants with a Ph.D. by the time of appointment in any social sciences and humanities areas of Chicana and Chicano, Latina and Latino Studies.

Of particular interest to the Department are scholars specializing in the broadly conceptualized fields of political history; immigration studies; art theories, art practices, and/or art history; LGBT/queer genders and sexualities; and literature. The visiting scholars will each teach a total of five courses, four undergraduate and one graduate, and will participate in advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in addition to course assignments.  There is a flexibility of a two- or three-quarter appointment in academic year 2008-2009. Applicants should send a current curriculum vitae; syllabi of three courses taught or proposed; available student or faculty/peer teaching evaluations; and arrange to have three current academic letters of references sent to the department. Annual salary is approximately $50,000-$60,000, based on qualifications and experience, and will include core benefits.
