***If you are unable to attend, your donation in any amount will be greatly appreciated!*** “A Knight to Remember,” a benefit for the Yolanda Retter Memorial Fund will take place on Saturday August 2, 2008.  Yolanda died last summer after a lifetime of community activism and dedication to diversity and women, especially women of color and lesbians.  Yolanda loved to play with words and identified herself as a “Knight for Higher.”  You would just as likely find her helping people in a major disaster (earthquakes, fires, 9/11), advocating for peace, justice, and civil rights, pushing a stalled truck off the road or helping an injured animal.

This fundraising event will include dinner, drinks, music, comedy, spoken word and a silent auction with some unique items from Yolanda’s collection. Tickets are $50.00 per person  For further information email moc.liamgobfsctd-52db08@relpmatseilsel or call 818/786-2868.

The goals of the Yolanda Retter Memorial Fund include:

  • Funding women of color (organizations and individuals) that will carry out social and economic justice projects.
  • Supporting projects that document and preserve women’s history and lesbian history.
  • Providing community spaces commemorating feminists in history.
