Diss fellowships: WomStu at UCSB

Two positions to begin July 1, 2008

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SANTA BARBARA WOMEN’S STUDIES PROGRAM DISSERTATION SCHOLARS TEACHING FELLOWSHIPS 2008-2009

The Women’s Studies Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for two fellowships for the academic year 2008-2009. Applicants must be advanced to candidacy and expect completion of the dissertation during the term of residence. Women’s Studies Dissertation Scholars will teach one undergraduate course and present one colloquium.

The Women’s Studies Program has a multidisciplinary, multicultural curriculum and faculty. Applicants from the humanities or social sciences should demonstrate research and teaching interests in the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality and cultural difference. The Program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the UCSB academic community through research and teaching.

The duration of the award is nine months, and the fellowship grant is approximately $20,000. Scholars are required to be in residence during the entire fellowship period.

To apply, complete and mail the Application to UCSB Women’s Studies Dissertation Fellowship (https://www.womst.ucsb.edu/grad/fellowship.html) along with a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a brief description of dissertation project, a writing sample (approx. 25 pages), and three letters of reference to: UCSB Women’s Studies Program, Fellowship Selection Committee, Attn: Chair Eileen Boris, 4631 South Hall, Santa Barbara, CA 93106-7110.

The deadline for the complete file to be received in our office is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2008. No fax or e-mail submissions will be accepted. The University of California is an EEO/AA Employer.
