JOBS: LatAm/Latino Studies, UCSC – Sustainable Community Development in Americas

The Department of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, invites applicants for a position as (tenure-track) Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (with tenure) in the field of Sustainable Community Development in the Americas. We seek colleagues with strong research experience and ability to teach students about issues of empowerment and organizing in the areas of health, welfare, environmental justice, housing, education or labor from ethnographic, quantitative or institutional perspectives. Although open to methodology, we are especially interested in candidates who can teach empirical research methodologies such as, for example, GIS mapping, census analysis, neighborhood or residence indicators, or migratory patterns. We seek candidates whose research reflects synergy between theoretical questions and the applied concerns of community leaders and policy-makers. Proficiency in a Latin American language is preferred. Possible disciplines include, but are not limited to: Public Policy, Urban Planning, Anthropology, Economics, Public Health, Education, Environmental Studies, Geography, Sociology, Politics and History.

This search is one of two searches being conducted by the Latin American and Latino Studies
